Borrowing Limits And Rules when buying a home in France

French Mortgage Advice are happy to outline the main criteria for French banks lending on mortgages for French residential properties. The property may be used as a French holiday home or second home.

The Maximum Permitted Loan:

As a percentage of the property value.

If you are intending to become permanently resident in France and this will be the acquisition of your main residence up to 100% french mortgages are available and in certain circumstances up to 110% may be borrowed.

All other applicants up to 85% of the property value.

The Minimum Loan amounts:

The minimum loan we will transact is Sixty Thousand Euro.

Euro Loan Currency

All loans and mortgages are denominated in Euro.
